Known Issue: TM-T88II Receipt Printer

Issue: TM-T88II receipt printer cannot be completely set up with the Receipt Printer instructions; printer driver is missing Check “Reduce Printing” and “Fit to Printable Width”setting on the Layout tab. When printing, the receipt data is pushed over to the side and cut off.

Explanation: This behavior can occur when you print the circulation page instead of clicking the Print -> Print Slip button, and/or forgetting to switch to the receipt Tab that Firefox opens. The issue of the printer driver can be avoided by following these instructions instead of the instructions for the T88III:

In Firefox:

Under File → Page Setup:

  • Check “Shrink to fit page” on Format & Options tab
  • 0,0,0,0 for Margins on Margins & Header/Footer Tab. This makes the receipts use all available space on the paper roll.
  • Set all Headers/Footers to –blank–. This removes all of the gunk you might normally find on a print from firefox, such as the URL, number of pages, etc.
  • Click OK

Set the default printer settings in Firefox so you don’t see a “Print” dialog:

  • Go to File -> Print
  • Set the printer to the receipt printer.
  • Print whatever page you are on.
  • Type about:config, in the address bar. Click “I’ll be careful, I promise!” on the warning message.
  • Type, print.always in Filter.
  • Look for, print.always_print_silent.
    • If the preference is there then set the value to true.
  • If the preference is not there (and it shouldn’t be in most browsers) you have to add the preference.
    • Right click the preference area and select New –> Boolean
    • Type, print.always_print_silent in the dialog box and set the value to True. This sets the print settings in Firefox to always use the same settings and print without showing a dialog box.

CAUTION – Setting the print.always_print_silent setting in about:config DISABLES the ability to choose a printer in Firefox.

Work Around: No work around needed. The printers work as configured above.

Migration Update: Patrons and Bills Loaded

As of 2pm this afternoon we received word that our Patron records and outstanding bills had been successfully loaded into our production server. Now we are just waiting for Holds and Current checkout information to be migrated and we will be ready for Go Live.

Diana and Mickey, and the fine folks in Atchison had a good day of training and look forward to the training that is to come in the next couple of days.

Stay tuned for more updates!

Known Issue: Auto-fill of Guarantor Data in Child Record

Issue: When adding a child record and searching for guarantor (in that order) the selected guarantor information does not auto-populate.

Explanation: This issue is mostly noteworthy because it works differently depending on how you execute the addition of the child account. When adding a child account from an existing adult account it will auto-populate the guarantor data from the adult account. When adding a child account first, and the guarantor selected second, the data WILL NOT be auto populated.

Work Around: When adding a child, verify that the child lives at the same address as the guarantor then add the child account through the adult’s account.

Known Issue: Dates in “Add Patron” Graphical Calendar

Issue: When clicking on the calendar in the Add Patron interface, clicking the dropdown “year back” or “year forward” buttons does not show every possible year.

Explanation: This functionality is by design. The developers state that showing every year in the interface would lead to the list being “too long.” You will notice that the drop down will change depending on what your start year is. We are in an even year (2008) so clicking the drop down “year back” button will show you odd years (2007, 2005, etc.) and clicking the drop down “year forward” button will show you even years (2010, 2012, etc.).

Work Around: Either click through the years (don’t use the drop down) or type in the year you need in the box (not using the Graphical Calendar).
