Over the weekend, LC call numbers began showing up in the OPAC on the search results list. We asked LibLime for some help and they told us which switch to throw to supress this information. The switch has been thrown. Let us know if you find any other strangeness.

If your receipts suddenly start including several inches of blank space and then the receipt information, check to make sure that the printing orientation is set to Portrait, not Landscape. You can check this by going to File–>Page Setup.

There is an option in Koha that is similar to the ephemeral function in Sirsi. It can be used for items that you just want a circ stat for, but don’t want to check them out and then back in. For example, Atchison uses this for checking out paperbacks that are not barcoded – and they really don’t care if the books don’t come back, but they want a circ stat for them. Other libraries might use this for items patrons have used in the library, but have not checked out. Here’s how to use this function: create a patron using the Statistical patron type (I made one for NEKLS with the patron name of Statistical-NEKLS, with a patron card number Stats-NEKLS.) You will need to run a “dummy” barcode under the scanner for each use, but it will keep track for you in your circ stats. You can use the same “dummy” over and over.

Discuss here if you would like to see the barcode removed from the patron slips.
Argument FOR barcodes on the receipts:
- easy to see which item the patron had
- helps if the barcode is lost from the book
- any others?
Argument AGAINST barcodes on the receipts:
- the entire receipt will look nicer
- the information will fit better.
- any others?
Please discuss!
