Cron Job – A job that runs on the server at a scheduled time, an example would be the fines calculations, which completes on the server around 3am every night.
FRBR – a 1998 recommendation of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions,(IFLA) to restructure catalog databases to reflect the conceptual structure of information resources.
GUI – Graphical User Interface
Koha – The open-source automation system we are using.
Liblime – The company who is providing support and hosting for our shared system.
Load Server – Where we check all of our automated jobs, and is the final step before the data goes live.
Open Source – A program in which the source code is available to the general public for use and/or modification from its original design free of charge.
Production Server – The server that hosts our automation system when it is finally in use by our libraries.
Test Server – Where the data goes first, and where we make all of our customizations.
z39.50 – A client-server protocol for searching and retrieving information from remote computer databases.
